*Program Overview* 

*Credits*: 60–70 credits 

*Focus*: Psychological theories of creativity, art therapy, human development through artistic expression, and research methodologies.

1. *APSY 501: Foundations of Arts Psychology* 

   - Introduction to the psychology of creativity, perception, and aesthetics. 

   - Key theorists: Freud, Jung, Winnicott, Arnheim, and Csikszentmihalyi. 

   - Assessment: Reflective essays (40%), Case studies (30%), Exams (30%). 

 

2. *APSY 502: Art Therapy Theory & Practice* 

   - Clinical approaches to art therapy (e.g., trauma, autism, dementia). 

   - Techniques: Drawing, painting, sculpture, and narrative therapies. 

   - Assessment: Case study analysis (50%), Art portfolio (30%), Participation (20%). 

 

3. *APSY 503: Developmental Psychology & Artistic Expression* 

   - Stages of artistic development across the lifespan (childhood to aging). 

   - Role of play, symbolism, and imagination in mental health. 

   - Assessment: Research paper (60%), Group presentation (40%). 

 

4. *APSY 504: Research Methods in Arts Psychology* 

   - Qualitative/quantitative methods, ethnography, arts-based research (ABR). 

   - Tools: NVivo, SPSS, photovoice, narrative analysis.

5. *APSY 505: Cognitive Psychology of Art* 

   - Perception, memory, and emotion in artistic creation and reception.
